Financial Advisor

“What’s most rewarding to me professionally is when I get to take the stress and worry of financial matters out of my clients’ lives.”

David joined Canby Financial in 2014 as a Client Service Manager and now serves as a Financial Advisor.

He enjoys working with many highly talented and gifted individuals who simply don’t have the time or desire to personally take charge of their own investments and financial planning but who appreciate the importance of having a plan.

David is passionate about relieving stress and providing clarity for his clients. Although he has had the privilege of working with many people in various stages of their lives, he finds it particularly rewarding when he works with young professionals who are faced with, at times, daunting, real-life decisions. When and how do we start planning to pay for college? Is paying for private college realistic? Am I contributing enough to my 401k or other retirement accounts? How should they be invested? I want to stop paying rent but buying a home is so overwhelming – where to I start? What should I be doing with my employer stock? What am I missing?

To help his clients answer these and other questions, David employs Canby Financial’s unique life-staged based financial planning process. Each client’s financial plan reflects their uniquely personal goals and challenges. An important role of the financial plan is to provide a frame of reference to keep clients anchored during times of uncertainty. And, as their goals and priorities evolve through their lives, so too does their financial plan.

David graduated with a BA in history and a minor in writing from Loyola University in Maryland. While at Loyola, David spent his junior year studying at the University College Cork in Cork, Ireland, where he learned as much exploring Ireland and Europe (or in the pubs), as he did in the classroom.

He began his career as a Financial Representative at Fidelity Investments, where he earned his FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations. In 2019, David earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification. He is an active member of both the South Shore Young Professionals and the Boston Estate Planning Council.

Raised in Sudbury, Massachusetts, David lives with his wife, Kathleen, in Cohasset. Looking to set their roots on the South Shore, David and Kathleen are discovering the “joys” of house hunting. To say that David is obsessed with golf would be a massive understatement. Although he is enamored with all aspects of the game, David is particularly fascinated by Golden Age golf course design. David attributes his addiction to his grandparents who introduced him to the game at a young age.

When he’s not on the course, David can be found cooking in the kitchen. One of his “guilty pleasures” is watching “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” marathons on the Food Network. During the warmer months, David enjoys reading books about golf, Irish history and World War II, while relaxing on the beaches of the South Shore.
